hi ladies, i never knew this board existed but i have been pointed in your direction by the girls at the TTAL board. Well whats to say about me, im kate 22 and mum to jordan who is 7 and 2 yr old lily-mae. I live in the UK with my partner mark who is 3o. I have had 4 losses altogether, the most recent being an ectopic in march of this year. here is my ectopic story.....
i started getting cramps not long after i discovered i was pregnant. I went to the hospital (it was a thursday) where they examined me and confirmed my pregnancy, they also took bloods just as a routine check. They then sent me home and told me not to worry as pains/cramps can be normal in early pregnancy. They made me an appointment to go back for repeat hcg in 2 days time. apprently this is just routine
So on the saturday i toddled off to the hospital for the bloods doing and they told me they would phone me with the results. I wasnt too worried at this point.
I then got a phone call a couple of hours later and they told me that the hcg had risen, but it hadnt doubled, and was very low. it had gone from 90 to 130. they told me to go back in another 2 days. the next set of hcg was only 170, when it should have been alot higher. i then had to have a scan and more bloods done.
When i had the bloods and scan done about 5 days later, the hcg had only gone up to 218. and they had seen something on my ovary - which all pointed to ectopic. but, they also saw something in my womb that looked like a small sac, but turned out to be something called a pseudo sac (sp?) that occurs in many ectopic pregnancies and is often mistaken for an early pregnancy sac.
A few days later my partner had to phone an ambulance as i had bad pains and i was rushed to hospital. In hospital i had the methotrexate. A few hours later i started cramping really bad and a day or so later i started bleeding really heavy (tmi sorry blush.gif ).
i was allowed home but had to return to the hospital 3 days later to have hcg done - they had actually risen, but not much. Then i had to return 4 days later for hcgs done again - this time they went down - alot!! i had to have bloods done 1 last time, and on that day the fell to 'non pregnant' levels.
i am now nearing the ends of the 3 month wait until i can TTC again. I have a check up with the doctor in july so im going to ttc after i have seen him and got the all clear
My first weight loss goal is to lose 21lbs, which is 10% of my body weight
honestly, I never noticed this board existed either.
While I didn't have an ectopic pregnancy (I lost my daughter to placenta abruption and other issues), I did go through a lot of the bleeding issues and pain that you had. It's so frustrating when you feel that something is wrong and they don't seem to take you seriously and 'send you home'.
We also will be TTC again near the end of this summer.
