We lost our "miracle" bean on Dec 1st at 5w 5d. Here is my story:
I started spotting the monday before Thanksgiving, I just thought my period was being stupid as I'm still BFing our DD. And I was on the mini-pill(which I found out can cause EPs). Well the Saturday after Thanksgiving I had still been spotting on and off, which was VERY weird for me. So I took a test and 2 more later they were still BFP. I knew something had to be wrong, and I started bleeding more on Sunday. I had another test done that monday at the health clinic and it came back positive, so I didn't think I was miscarrying. I then started passing some clots over the next few days, but then it would just go back to spotting. And there was never any cramping. On Thursday I went in and had a u/s where they told me I had miscarried because there was nothing in my uterus. I was so sad, this was our "miracle BC baby". The next morning I woke up to really bad pains in my abdomen, I called DH at work and told him that it kept coming and going but I couldn't even lay down. So I called the Dr. office and they told me to go get and HCG blood test, it came back at 3,882 at 5w4d. For a breif minute I thought, maybe they missed something on the u/s, but I knew better. I then had to get another 2 u/s. The Dr. on call came in too see me and he thought I would be curled up in a ball, because of how much internal bleeding they saw on the u/s. He decided to keep me over night, and either do the shot or surgery in the morning depending on if I started becoming more anemic and losing more blood. Well they did and I had to have surgery. One week from the time we found out. He had to do a laparotomy, almost a c-section, because of all the bleeding inside. He worked so hard to save my tube and ovary(I had a cyst since my pregnancy w/DS). I had to be on oxygen the whole time afterward, and I looked like a ghost. I was able to go home on Sunday, but by Monday night I was passing some more clots. We went to the ER Tuesday, where I got a horrible Dr. who did a very rough cervical, and treated my stomach like he was kneading dough. They did a CT scan and it showed everything was fine.
Tube bean missing since 12/1/07
Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm glad the one Dr was so kind and worked so hard for you. I'm really happy you didn't have that last Dr at first. I also didn't know that about the mini-pill, but now I will keep that in mind for myself and friends. ((HUGS))
hi there, thanks for the story, it was very informative. my mother had three ectopics using the mini pill. i am on the mini pill as i suffer from "worrying" migraines, and cannot take any estrogen form of the pill.
i am so sorry for your loss
