Personally, it depends on what I'm doing. For aerobics, I'll either use a video or do my own thing with pumping music. Either way, I have to have the room brightly lit and clean. Same with weight training. For stretching, yoga, or pilates, I have to have soft music and candlelight. I use various scents to help me achieve my goals. For a relaxation practice, I'll use more spa like scents like rain, ginger and cedarwood, or sea breeze. For an energizing practice, I'll use citrus scents like sweet orange and chili pepper, sugared clementine, or key lime. I usually have candles going throughout the house and love using aromatherapy to prepare for my workouts. Anyone else do things like that?

Me, I do my best to get peace and quiet! Which is incredibly difficult in my house right now. The other thing is I try to get my house cleaned up and take care of other things that would distract me from my workout. Music is my third ingredient. If I don't have the right music I don't get in quite as good a workout.
DS has to be in bed, and DH has to be out of the room(otherwise they both make me lose my focus and I just get frustrated and get off the Wii fit or the treadmill). My exercise occurs after 8pm.

I guess my only work-out prep is putting on my shoes and hollering: "KIDS, I'M WORKING OUT NOW. EITHER DO IT WITH ME OR STAY OUT OF THE WAY!" I tend to just do it spur-of-the-moment when I know Mary will be okay for an hour or so.

I just get downstairs when I have a free 30 minutes, turn on the music and jump into it! That's pretty much how I do everything though - spur of the moment!
