Tonya, don't laugh at me now. I was working out with my trainer today and I'm telling you he had some serious weight on those squats. I don't know how heavy it was. I'm going to have to ask next time, but it was really heavy for me. I haven't worn my heart monitor during weight training before. Anyhow I looked at my heart rate right after I did one of the squats and dang it was up to 176! Wow! I had no idea how high your heart rate could get during weight training. According to my watch I burned 286 calories in that half hour. Wow! I was just totally amazed. I knew weight training built muscle, but I didn't really realize how many calories you could burn doing weight training. I'm going to have some awesome legs come summer!

I'm not laughing at all. Most people don't realize that anaerobic training means over your target heart rate zone for cardio. It doesn't burn near as much body fat as training in your heart rate zone because of lack of oxygen to the muscles while doing it, but it burns mega calories. Weight training is anaerobic. Great job on the calorie burn.

I don't know why, but I am always mixing up anaerobic and aerobic. That was very useful info to know.

well i do the BFX classes at my gym (at least once, but i need to do it twice a week) and for every 3 minute song we have weights and focus on a part of the body. We constantly move and all that. It's great and i notice the women in the gym that have the nicer bodies (not all skinny but look fit even if considered over weight) are in that class.
