The name is Amber. I am not new to jm but I am new to this board. Story is, I recently gave up on ttc my second child. After 2 years with no success (5 months of medical intervention) I gave up and let it rest in GOD's hands. I have been overweight since puberty. I weigh 237 5'6'' and I am 25 years old. I NEED to lose weight. I dont want my daughter to become overweight or see me as an "embarrassment" to her. She is 5. I know there is a time when I will be (i guess it happens at one time or another) but I dont want it to be because of my weight. I want to be around for a while and I want to be as healthy as possible. I was never "fat" just really really top heavy, which caused extreme embarrassment growing up. It was when I had my daughter and was stuck in a really bad relationship did I lose "control" and gained about 80 pounds. I have went from 250 to 238 in a matter of 2 months and have also lost 1 pound in the past few days. I made the decision to lose weight about a month ago but have actually taken initiative the past couple weeks. I am finding it hard to get into the groove of things. I am getting preoccupied with other activities that I say o i will skip this day. How do you ladies do it, the ones that do exercise. I am trying to limit my caloric intake to only 1500 which is ok but I just cant get the exercise in. HOW DO YOU DO IT???? Any suggestions or comments appreciated.
welcome i too am 237lbs and am trying to lose rougly 100lbs i just started trying to exercise today but only did 15 minutes for me i have difital cable and have free on demand and there is a fitness channel with workout vidios so thats what i am gonna try
Oh wow, I am so glad to meet you. When I started exercising, just for fun i started the biggest loser bootcamp with bob on the on demand free exercise channel and of a 22 minute workout, I did exactly 3minutes of it!!! It was sooo hard. Well I am doing Richard Simmons now disco sweat, which I absolutely love but I can only do maybe a 1/2 hour of an hour video right now. I am going to start going back to the gym soon though so that would be my primary work out and richard will be my secondary! I am getting married in december so I really really want to be at my goal by then. Its so hard getting started though!!!
oh wow i cant believe we are about the same age i wilbe 25 on Feb 1 and weigh the same. My dh is 12 years older and i have 3 kids it took 3 years to get pregnant wth my 1st but 2 and 3 came after 7 months of trying on each.. good luck with everythig
Wow, I cant believe how much we have in common. David(fiance) is 14 years older than I. So we both are 237, we both have older hubbys and we both had problems with fertility. Hmmmm wow thats really crazy! Well thanx for the replies and good luck with your success!!!
When I first started exercising I could only do a few minutes (not even 15) at a time. If you start with 15 or 20 minute exercise goals I think that will help. Try and see if you can do it 4 to 5 times a week for a couple weeks. Once you have stuck with that a couple weeks then increase your goals. The big thing is getting in the habit and making it a priority. I am a pain in the butt now. I insist that my family help out so I can get the time to exercise. I've realized I've given so much to them that it is not asking too much to have an hour to myself a day. Once you decide you are worth it then nothing can stop you. Visualization helps me out a lot. When you feel like quitting envision yourself looking the way you want to. Envision yourself outside running with your kids and hold that image in your head until you can get out there and get that exercise in. Anyhow, I'm Teresa. Welcome to the board!
welcome, i am pamala 27 wife to Dion and mother of 3, ages 12, 4 and 18 months. I started my journey at 210 lbs @5'4" (so i think, it may have been a little more). My ultimate goal is about 155, i like to have some meat on me and so does DH. I am now a consistent 187. My DH is in iraq and will be coming back to visit on March 4th and i want to be 175 for his visit since I wasn't anywhere near my goal of 160 his last visit. I go to the gym usually 3-5 times a week.
Just start off with cutting some bad things out of ur diet. Cutting soda will make a difference along with walking perhaps or like the other ladies said 15-20 minutes of an easy workout dvd (i personally never get thru more than 30 minutes)
Thanx ladies for the great advise! I agree wannabesupermom that its hard to get in that habit (which I am constantly working on)! I have plenty of time to do it, I just need to get off my butt to do it. Because of my schedule - I get up at 6:20am make breakfast for DF and daughter-take mia to school by 8-get home by 8:30 try to get back to sleep for a 2 or 3 hour nap-get up do housework-go to work by 3 and get off at 12 get home by 1 and follow the same throughout the week. I dont get enough sleep so that is what is sooo hard. I just have to do it though! I have to just force myself!!!!!

“Motherhood is a choice you make everyday, to put someone else's happiness and well-being ahead of your own, to teach the hard lessons, to do the right thing even when you're not sure what the right thing is...and to forgive yourself, over and over again, for doing everything wrong.”
Ana410ny-reply to what I make for dd and df for breakfast- well I usually make DF 3 eggs however he wants that day 1/2 pack of bacon and toast or biscuits. Orange juice or milk. DD I usually give her hard boiled eggs whites (2 max) with 2 links of sausage or if she is not that hungry a yogurt or 1 string cheese. I usually dont eat in the morning that early. DF is a construction worker and he also has another job so he burns off EVERYTHING he eats! DD is usually not hungry before school but I do make her eat something small before we leave. If I do eat (which I have been lately) I eat 2 hard boiled egg whites or a yogurt.
Thanx for the Welcome Marie!!!
Tonya-thanks for the welcome and its nice to meet you. I do have plenty of time to do it like I said I just dont get enough sleep. lol. I am working on it lol. Its really cool that you are a trainer. Did you used to be overweight and just decided to get into it? How did you get into becoming a trainer? You dont have to answer if you dont feel comfortable. Just wondering

Well, I wanted to lose a little weight after having DD (she's 14). Because I had been an athlete my whole life I did what all my friends did and went to the gym and hired a trainer. I worked out with him for 6 months and didn't see the results I wanted. I saw an ad in our local paper for a personal training certification so I asked him about his certification. His response was that you don't have to be certified to be a trainer. What he was trying to say without coming out and admitting it was that he wasn't certified. So, I fired him and took the money I had been spending on a trainer and got the certification myself. As soon as I knew what to do, I lost the weight I wanted. I then ended up training friends and family and their friends and family, etc. until I had to quit my full time accounting job because I didn't have time for it and I was making more money as a trainer. I've been going for more and more certifications ever since, 12 1/2 years. Now I'm certified in personal training, sports nutrition, pilates, yoga, kickboxing, aqua, stability ball, childrens fitness, senior fitness, and pre and post natal fitness, with multiple certifications in the first half dozen. I've also done numerous continuing education credits and am certified to certify other trainers. Now I'm back in college because I want a degree in a fitness related field.

o wow, congrats on your success! I guess I have always been overweight but I was really active in high school so I was a lot of muscle too. I went to college, lost some weight about 20lbs and then got pregnant with dd so I have been battling since then! That was a really good idea becoming a trainer. I want to learn how to cut hair so I dont have to pay for it lol.
the reason I asked you about what you make them for breakfast was because I was thinking maybe you can prepare some of it before going to bed. You can hard boil the eggs when you get home from work, or while you are in the shower or something... all it is is planning ahead... that way you dont' have to wake up at 6:30.. you can even pick out your DDs clothes she's going to wear the night before.. have shoes, bookbag, coat, everything ready.. maybe you can squeeze in another hour of sleep.. maybe wake up at 7:30.
