Okay, I have an idea (okay, not my original idea, someone else thought of it before me). We could do a weightloss challenge. A combination of The Biggest Loser and Weight Watcher's point system. You get points for doing weightloss/exercise related things. At the end of the month the points are tabulated and a winner is declared. Here is a draft of a previous weight loss challenge.

Points:
*1 pt for posting in someone elses journal. Smilies do not count. These must be true comments! We really need to support each other!
*2 points for getting an inactive member back. You know the ones, you see their journals not getting updated and they aren't posting points for the challenge, or posting in weightloss, but they have a journal. Must post members name in the point tracking post.
*2 points for posting in your online journal. you can post anything related to your weight loss from daily food intake, accomplishments/setbacks, or how you are feeling about your body. These points may be earned once per day. No extra points awarded for multiple journal posts in one day. You may edit your post to reflect a new entry (no need to make a new post per day if you just edit your post and create a new one each week).
*2 pts for a change in exercise routine
*5 points for every positive thought about yourself (doesn't have to be weight related) or positive thing that someone says to you. To earn the 5 points for this, you have to actually write that positive thing in the points tracking post- just go back in and edit.
*5 points for every 30 minutes of exercise. This can be done in 15 minute incriments, but it must total a full 30 minutes to get the points.
*2 bonus points for going a full hour (not broken up, but a full consecutive hour)
*5 pts for passing on temptation (fast food, cookies, cakes, not exercising). TO earn the points, it has to be weightloss oriented. No posting that you passed up super cute shoes on sale!
*10 points for drinking 64 ounces of water (8 8-oz glasses) in one day.
*10 points per pound lost. These are pounds lost from your starting weight. No points awarded for yo-yo-ing!
*15 pts for going down a size (dress size, pants size, shirt size)

Bonus points for the week of (x-x):*5 points for posting a useful exercise tip. You can only earn 5pts.

So what do you think? Any suggestions for points and for what? A name for the challenge?

Bring it on!! LOL!

I have a couple questions though....

How long does a member have to be inactive to get points for bringing them back?
Define "change in exercise routine".
I have a weightloss blog instead of a journal here... Does that count?

How about points for submitted diet tips (as well as the exercise tips you already said) and for posting healthy recipes?

Change in exercise routine would be if you do Pilates all the time, but decided to do step aerobics. Or you normally do weight training, but decide to do yoga, etc.

Inactive would be someone who seems to have fallen away. I think that could be a week! Every day counts when it comes to losing weight. If you know they are on vacation, that doesn't count!

Blog, journal, same thing in my book.

We can add categories for points. So, if you also want separate points for diet tips and healthy recipes, that can be added. Or it can just be combined into a healthy tip category.

I figure I'll get it up and running tomorrow with the weigh-in. That way, we have an accurate weight to start off on.

Do we just want to use the model one above? I can have a sticky request to have it pinned up above so we don't lose it.

I'm still working on it.

There was a sticky posted at the top of the board.
