That's my problem...I don't eat often enough and when I do, I'm super hungry and end up eating more than necessary... Sooooo many habits to change...

So how many more calories should you consume to jump start your metabolism?
Like my cap now is 1,500 and DH told me I should have one day a week when I increase my calories but he was too sick to talk about it more more.
Is 2,000 calories enough or do I need to make it even more?

I'm just plain confused by everything!!! Here I was honestly thinking about cutting my calories drastically to get results (like to 1,000) I thought maybe b/c I'm short I should eat less??????

It is all about what your body needs. Basically, if you have more muscle, your body burns more calories to maintain that muscle then if you weigh the same but have less muscle. You have to consume the amount of calories your body needs or it will store fat for energy use later, basically defeating the purpose of being on a "diet". Thats why I tell my clients not to diet, but to fuel the body. Here are a couple of videos I use with seminar on weight management. Unfortunately, Art hasn't put up the rest of the seminar, but it is good information. I can send you the powerpoint of it via email if anyone is interested.

Yep, I don't diet. I just try to eat healthier. It's so much easier, and I know the weight will stay off forever.

Robyn, have you tried strength training before your cardio? I've read some places where that helps. And yeah i don't think you need to eat less than 1200 calories.

Stacey,

It really depends on how active you are but it is probably a good idea to have a couple days a week where your intake is more than usual to trick your body, since it's used to eating 1500 calories. Try a couple where you eat 1600-1800 calories. But like Tonya said, it all depends on your body composition..

I have some days a week where i hvae up to 1800 calories but i try not to consume any less than 1400. It usually depends on how much i work out. I also try to change my routine often. Today i incorporated teh recumbant bike and did 3 different machines instead of 1. Sometimes I'll do 2 machines. Then i change the settings and the level and th resistance etc...
