is the dropping the point thing. Every time you drop down into a new decade (i.e. going from say the 180s to the 170s) you lose a point. I just dropped a point. While you wouldn't think this is a big deal it feels huge to me and very demoralizing.

I know from past experience that once I get to a certain level of points I just give up because I feel they are too low. I can survive on 28-30 pts a day (using my flex pts to make it there) but once I get below where I can eat 28 pts a day I just really get demoralized.

And when I have to drop a point you know what goes first - fruit because it is 1 pt and easy to drop - that can't be promoting a healthy life style.

*sigh* I guess I need to work on this a little more, rework things a little. BTW - 28 pts is approximately 1400 calories.

28 pts isn't 1400 calories. It's impossible to put it in a range. You can have a lot more if you are eating plenty of fiber and foods that aren't high fat. It's 50 cal per point IF there is no fiber or fat. A lot of food is low in calories but high in fiber and fiber makes a HUGE difference. It varies so much with every different kind of food.

ETA: I'm at 24 pts/day (I started at 27) and it hasn't been bad. Plus you can earn Activity Points and you also have the extra 35 pts per week.

yes I need to work on earning the APs. But I still hate it when they take the points away. The only thing I want to go down is the scale!

I'm on 25, and I have to use my flex pts every day-usually I run out of flex two days before WI, but I make those 25pt only days, and I can survive and lose. Have you tried Core? They got rid of Core, but you can do Core if you really can't handle the pts-ask your meeting leader or call WW for help if you don't do meetings. I lost my 10% strictly with Core last year-it works well if you can manage portion control.

This is why I prefer calories and going by lean body mass instead of just weight and figuring points. With my calories, I actually up them when I lose body fat and build muscle, so as I move along I get to eat more. My way of doing it is very anal retentive though, and hard for most people to follow. I would definitely look into the other options for increasing your points. Adding activity, flex, etc. so you don't get discouraged. The key to any program is to not get discouraged and stop. Consistancy is what works, not necessarily the specific program.

I've had people tell me to just don't drop the pts and see if you keep losing weight. I hate making up my own rules though.

I think I need to work on the AP side a bit more so I can earn more food I guess. Or give up my skinny cow
