Which would you recommend to burn more calories doing it for 30 mines to an hour every day? They would both be at a normal pace.

I always burn more on the elliptical. I find I can work harder on it with out ending up dying like I do on the treadmill. For me, it's almost 2x the calories burned (according to the machine that is).

It depends. If it is an elliptical with arm movement, the elliptical. If it is an elliptical where you hold on, the treadmill. Number one thing, though, is don't trust the calorie burn estimations on machines. Unless you program in your specific stats, it is based on a 150 pound man (who typically has a higher % of muscle mass then a 150 pound woman), and not accurate for anyone else.

I never knew that Tonya! haha.. It always asks me to type in my weight though, so does that means it'll give a more accurate reading?

I always do the treadmill but that's because my personal trainer told me to use the treadmill instead of the elliptical.

I like the elliptical because it's low impact for me. I can get in a run with out killing my knees and ankles from my 160lb body pounding on them. lol. I find I can't control my heart rate what so ever on a treadmill, I can either walk or run... nothing in between or I seem to fall over!

Ours here always ask us to put in our height, weight and gender.. which is cool.. the women s gym has it preset to female. lol.

I tend to burn more on teh elliptical because I can push myself harder without hurting myself. Also you can increase the resistance on teh elliptical to burn more. Of course you can increase the incline on the TM, but I always get shin splints when I do that.
