She gave me a thumbs up on my diet. I was a little worried since i am not eating grains or potatoes. She said as long as I have 170-190 carbs a day and eat enough diversity in my plant based foods I will be fine. She said there is nothing specific in grains that a person can not get from other plant based foods. She agrees that people in genral that carry their weight in the abdominal region benefit from a 'diabetic' or even gluten free diet, even if they have not been diagnosed with either condition. She thinks that they sort of go hand in hand.
So, with my lipid profile being better, and feeling better...no aches and pains, no headaches, no intestinal probelms, etc. I feel like i have made the right choice with my way of eating.
She looked over my food logs, and said it looks great. She gave me some suggestions on spreading out the carbs and making sure I eat some with each meal, and advised me not to eat say just a fruit for a snack. I already try to do that anyway, so I just said, 'yes ma'am' and carried on..lol
I liked her a lot better then the other nutritionist we used to have. The new one actualyl looks at each day, not just the calories, she paid attention to each meal and snack and made suggestions. She also was open to other ideas. The old one only wanted me to follow the food pyramid and after 2.5 years of that not working I went against her suggestions and started losing weight for the first time. This new nutritionist agrees with my assesment that I was probably pre-diabetic and being on a diet similar to what a diabetic eats is the right choice.
