Do you jump rope for exercise? What type of routine do you do? Tonya, do you know of a good easy routine to do with jump ropes?

I didn't last very long today but its easy to do with boys napping. I did 30secs rotation of jumping and rest for 6 minutes. It kicked my butt.

If I'm working out while Tegan is napping I include jump rope in my "routine." I picked 12 upbeat songs and rotate through the list doing each exercise twice (when the song is over I switch to the next exercise....with breaks if needed since some are harder than others). I found my calves got really stiff if I did a whole routine centered around jump-rope.

Jumping Jacks
step-ups
Burpees
running in place
Jump Rope
Mountain Climber

Yup they are all without equipment and can be done in a relatively small living room. I dont even have a jump rope I just go through the motions.

Jumping Jacks:
How to Do Jumping Jacks Calisthenics Exercise | eHow.com

Step-ups: I just use a footstool about (1 ft high) step up onto it and down alternating feet.

Burpees: here is a quick clip on how to do them...they are tiring! Burpees

running in place: fairly self-explanatory. If I get bored I mix it up with trying to go really fast for a minute or trying to get my knees really high for a minute...etc.

jump rope: I just jump a pretend rope since my living room is too cluttered to actually fling a rope around

Mountain climber: Get into the push-up position (arms straight), balls of your feet on the floor. Brace your core and keep your body still. Slowly lift your right knee up towards your left arm, then back down to the starting position. That's one movement, your feet should only touch the floor in the starting position. Repeat with your left knee up to your right arm, and alternate legs with each rep. These are brutal and I can only do it for like 20 seconds at a time!

By the time I do all these I have worked up quite a sweat and it's easy to do at home while baby is sleeping with nothing but some good music to pump me up!

Thank you for explaining those! I am just starting to get into a routine, but I plan to use a jump rope, also.
