Do you ever have a hard time telling if you're really hungry?

I have had such a hard time with my appetite since I started working out. I have a hard time sometimes telling if I'm hungry because I need to eat, or I'm bored, or nervous, or if I'm REALLY hungry. I mean I can tell if I'm starved but I sometimes can't decide if I have a case of the munchies or if I really need a snack or if I'm eating enough.

I have gained 4 lbs since I discussed trying to gain weight so I think I am eating plenty now, but I'm still having a hard time deciding how much to eat for what I'm doing. And also how much I want to gain. I think I'm happy with where I'm at with my weight for now but I'm a little worried that I've increased my calories too much now. LOL.

There are definitely times that I think I am hungry but can't really tell. Those times I just drink a glass of water. If I am still hungry after that then I will have a snack. But most times that does the trick. (Maybe part of that is that I get busy again and forget too.)

On my days off I sometimes find that I eat more and I believe it is mostly out of boredom. when I work I get so busy that I only eat when I am hungry.

Yes, I think this was part of what led to my weight gain over the years. Because of pregnancy/breastfeeding I had "permission" to graze and I would just eat and eat regardless of feeling hungry (or full). I've definitely gotten better about that. These days if I'm not sure, I assume I'm not hungry. Or if I'm in a mood where "nothing sounds good", then I figure I'm probably not hungry.

Yep, I have this problem too, and I've started drinking water when I think I might hungry and it really seems to help.

Yes. I have the same problem. I also eat way to fast and then I don't feel full when I'm done eating. I really need to try slowing down and try the water thing too.

I'm such a grazer. Its on my list of things to fix...one thing at a time for a few weeks though! I think once I return to work after maternity leave it will be much easier.
