What do you ladies think of ground turkey?

I'm trying to find something to replace ground beef/hamburger and I know turkey is said to be healthier but how much healthier? Did any of you ladies have success with it?

What are some meats that you ladies eat that are a more healthy option?

I'm starting to try and eat more venison/deer meat as that is a good lean meat.

My husband is so picky about meat that it makes cooking difficult. He will not eat ground turkey. My mom used to tell me to mix it or not tell him but he always knows if I put ground turkey in things. So I rarely eat ground turkey even though I like it just fine. I am starting to make separate meals like I used to do in my vegetarian days but it's kind of a pain when you have a family. I don't really have a good answer for this one because it's something I am working on myself. I have been trying to eat more meals with chicken but you can only eat so much chicken.

My hubby doesn't like it. We've tried it several times in different ways and it just wasn't for us. I did enjoy it in patty form. lol.

I'm having ground chicken burgers for dinner tonight actually.

Dh will eat deer, I won't. I used to, got very sick, won't touch it again.

I have been trying to eat more chicken as I love chicken. But, I agree - you can only eat so much chicken. We made chicken burgers the other night and DH loved them - I just didn't have the bun and pilled it with avocado and the fixings.

I'm the minority here, I think red meat and fat are perfectly healthy and I eat a good bit of both.
I like ground Turkey ok but even when I want something lean, I just prefer to get 93% beef.

We used to buy in bulk ground beef and ground pork and mix them together and prepackage and freeze them in 1lb increments. We now just do ground beef because its easier.

I believe the ground pork is better for you than the ground beef. I've actually never had ground turkey. I never really noticed a different taste with the ground pork.

We eat salmon at least once a week which might be another alternative from chicken.

I don't buy ground turkey since I noticed they add some type of "flavoring" to the meat. Who knows what that is!

I have done a lot of experimenting with using black beans instead of meat. I also think quality meat has its place in a healthy diet, but it gets expensive when you have like 20 mouths to feed (the teens count as three, at least, LOL!).

We eat ground beef, I buy lean, usually 93% but sometimes I get 80% for burgers because the 93% I find a little dry. I do like ground turkey. I usually get a seasoning packet, like buffalo seasoning (like the McCormick stuff) or Italian dressing seasoning, etc and add to it because it's a little bland. I'll make little mini-burgers with pepper cheese and put it on those Hawaiian roles. Or I'll add it in with some pasta with sundried tomato basil sauce, or a tomato alfredo. I don't care for it in spaghetti sauce though.

I'm in the minority with you for the same reasons. Also, we raise our own beef and have been told many times by the butcher that they wished there was more fat on them. We also don't get much fat out when we cook it so we know it is pretty lean. I've never tried ground turkey.

I also eat lean red meat and don't have a problem with it. I've tried ground turkey and while I don't mind it, DH refuses to eat it.

I don't mind beef.. it's just nice to change it up once in a while. LOL. I don't like US beef as much as I do Canadian though.. don't tell my husband he'd think I'm crazy.
