Hi all, my name is Bridgette. I'm much more of a JM lurker and usually post in the natural childbirth board, but I really want to break in to some new boards here. I recently had my first baby 3 months ago.
Just a little background info...
Before I became pregnant I was at my lowest weight of 128 (after losing from 183). When I became pregnant, I gained entirely way too much weight although I wasn't eating much differently. The day I went into labor, I was an astonishing 223 pounds, the biggest I'd ever been. I was mortified with myself. I never in a million years would have thought I'd be over 200 pounds.
4 weeks after delivery, I was 193. Then I became "stuck". I was put on birth control (which I despise) and stayed a steady 193 until last week, when I suddenly dropped 5 pounds.
I'm so ready to get the rest of this baby weight off by the time my little Ryker turns 1. I refuse to feel this run down and exhausted while my little boy grows up.
One of the biggest troubles I have trying to lose weight is my inability to exercise vigorously. 2 days after my son was born, I went into cardiac arrest. I had to have my heart stopped, restarted, and two weeks later I had to have heart surgery. Because of this, heavy cardio or major workouts are a big no, at least for now. I do light exercise daily and hope to build up to something more.
Hello and welcome.....have you talked to your dr about some sort of exercise regimen that would work for you? Specially with your heart problems...all of your diet and exercise should be monitored by your dr. You should also check out myfitnesspal...a great site!

Hi Bridgette. Welcome to the board! I am like you when I am pregnant I usually gain a lot of weight. I gained over 75 lbs when I was pregnant with my son. It comes off. I have just recently started exercising. With most of my kids I lost the weight just from diet changes. I also think walking is a really good way to burn fat and lose weight and I would think that would be something your doctor would approve of. I'd still talk to your doctor about your exercise program to be safe. My friend had the same thing happen to her when she was in labor. Scary stuff! I can imagine that would make exercising more stressful.
