Hey ladies, I've been lurking for a while. I'm Jacie, mom to a 10 year old boy and almost 6 year old girl. I've been on JM for years. I've been struggling with weight since my son was born, and then used antidepressants for 5 years. I used to post here a few years ago, but hit a plateau, and kinda gave up on the weight loss deal. I have been back on the wagon since January, and have since lost 30lbs, for now a total of 77 lbs over the last 3 years. My goal is only 13 lbs away, but it seems the closer I get to my goal the more I am loosing motivation. So I come here for support and motivation. I have yet to put pictures side by side as I feel like I am not to my goal, so its not a true "before and after".
For fitness, I am running a Learn to Run program, similar to the C25K, tho the intervals are a bit different. I am on week 7, and doing great for someone who has never ran in my life. Throughout the year, I also attend a Boot Camp program, that alternates Circuit Training and Cardio Kickboxing. I also walk, a lot, and hiking is a favourite of mine and my daughter's. There is no gym in my area, so I am lacking in the strength training.
I'm also on MyFitnessPal, but lately been slacking with the calorie counting, but I'm pretty sure I'm mostly on track.
Have you ever looked into the Chalean Extreme videos for strength training? I hated going to the gym to lift weights and someone recommended those videos. I got a bunch of cheap dumbbells and followed the program (not always on schedule and sort of stopped in the last month). It really helped me work through a plateau, made me feel strong and although I didn't lose many pounds, I looked much smaller and felt in better shape.
I now do the videos in whatever order I feel like at least twice a week and it is enough strength training to keep me motivated.
Hey Jacie! It sounds like you've done an awesome job so far and only have a little to go. I love having my progress thread because sometimes I think I am not making progress and then I'll look at my newest picture and realize how far I've come. Keep plugging along. You're so close and this board is really good at giving you that extra motivation.
