A couple things have been really affecting my workouts - one is my bipolar, the depression episodes which I have a lot, and the other is my migraines, which I also get a lot of. I probably have at least one migraine a week and they sometimes last for 2 or 3 days. I seem to get depressed every 4 days to a week. I am trying to get a better handle on my depression but I don't know what to do about my migraines. I've been getting them for years and have tried everything. I usually take some sort of pain reliever but I can't always workout when I have one. They are bad and make me feel nauseous most of the time. So those are my two major obstacles. I keep thinking if I workout regularly it will help with my migraines and my moods and it does seem to help with my moods if I can push myself to do it but the migraines, I'm just not sure what to do about them.

I also suffer migraines and depression. I have gotten a better hold of my depression over the last 3 years, and it doesn't really affect my workouts anymore. When I am in a depressive mood, I force myself to get up and do it anyways. Usually when I am done, I feel so much better. Migraines are def harder to work through and like you, they last several days. I had a migraine Monday evening, and had to skip my run, but tuesday I managed to run, and honestly my head felt so much better afterwards. I am still feeling the effects of my migraine today, but that is also after working 2 night shifts. :S
For me, there isn't much that stops me from working out other then just being lazy, and not feeling like it. I try most times to just push through that and without thinking sometimes just get up and go. Its hard to do, but I know if I will feel worse, and regret it.

Migraines suck. I used to get at least 1 per week when I was in school. Luckily they are less frequent now. Have you talked to a doctor about possibly getting on some kind of maintenance med to prevent migraines? I know some people do that, and it helps.

For me, it's family stuff & time. I really have to be proactive to even carve out 10-20 minutes to work out. Also, DH has been on 1st shift for several weeks, and while it's nice to have him home in the evenings, it makes me less likely to work out, for some reason. But he's going back to 2nd shift soon, so maybe that'll help. If I can get both girls to bed around 8:00, and DH is not home, that's usually a good time for me to work out.

Right now, its my son's sleeping...or lack thereof. He wakes constantly at night and no matter what I've tried, always needs some kind of intervention from me to put him back down. Whether its a quick nurse, or he has sat himself up in his sleep and can't lay back down, or he starts sleep walking in his crib and bumps his head...its different every time. I've talked to sleep specialists and the doctor. Its apparently a phase and will get better. Anyways, it affects my productivity and energy during the day. And I'm going to be returning to work full time on Aug 28...I'm dreading how this will go.

Right now it is nausea. I don't think I have done almost anything for the past 2 weeks. I'm starting to feel like a big old slug. it is getting a tiny bit better so I'm hoping next week or the next I can do something.

Currently I haven't had too much of an issue besides my own laziness sometimes.

When DH gets home it will be being distracted by him and wanting to do stuff with him instead of working out. The plan when everything settles down is to start working out together though.

My own head stops me... I will make an excuse and then fly with it.

I have only had optical migraines but watched my sister and mom go through it OWW!! Have you thought about seeing an acupuncturist? I have often wondered what i would do if I had them and since modern medicine only seems to treat the pain (poorly at that), I would try acupuncture. But I am currently on an acupuncture kick

I had awful migraines before I got my new glasses, and terrible ones when I was pregnant. Have you asked your doctor for prevention medication?

It's only time that keeps me from working out most of the time.

I have a lot of respect for all of you who are facing challenges and keep trying!

I am very fortunate that there really isn't much that prevents me from working out most days. My family is cooperative, my schedule is usually workable, and motivation isn't an issue because I genuinely enjoy exercising.

Life gets in the way. I can't leave my kids alone in the morning to go run. DH leaves between 4-5am every day. And after he gets home, we sometimes have kid activities in the evenings and I can't always get out.
