I just realized I have 45 days before the Chicago Marathon!! I'm sooo not going to be ready. I really thought this would be the marathon where I would train right, and finish in less than 5 hours. I highly doubt it will happen because of my lack of long runs. I should have run 19 miles last week...made it 12, broken up into 2 runs. NOT GOOD!! Friday is long run day, hoping for at least 16 miles before it gets up to the 90's.

Good luck and just try to stick with your plan from here on out as much as you can. You can't always do things perfectly, just do your best! I can't wait to hear how everything goes!

I thought of you when I was attempting my "long" run on Sunday... I overslept and went out when it was way too hot. Anyway, you still have time to buckle down between now and then. You never know, you might surprise yourself!

I'm hoping so. Last year I felt like I wasn't anywhere near ready, and I assumed it would be a long 6 hour ordeal with a lot of walking, and then I managed to run the whole thing and finished close to 5 hours. I think if I can get in a long run every week up until the week of the marathon, included at least 2 runs of 18 miles or more, I'll be in ok shape. Not how I wanted to be, or as ready as I was for the spring marathon. I'm hoping because those long distance running muscles are there, they will eventually remember what they are supposed to do lol!

Oh, I bet a couple good long runs will remind them.

This isn't the first time you've done Chicago, right? How many will this make for you?

This will be Chicago #3, marathon 4. And most likely final, for awhile at least. I probably won't run Chicago again because it's getting expensive. Plus it filled so quickly this year, I imagine there will be a qualifying time requirement next year. But it is an awesome race. I love running the neighborhoods, and the crowds are amazing. Regardless of time, I will have fun (until mile 20 or so lol). You have to have fun to be able to do something for 5 hours!!

Third time's the charm. DH thinks I should plan to do Chicago "someday" but I don't know how well I would handle such a large crowd. But it seems to be just about everybody's favorite marathon.
