I try to keep those tempting snacky foods in a cupboard - Kind of "out of sight, out of mind." Or I will try to just walk off and do something else to get my mind off of the snacky item I want. I also make sure to drink a glass of water every time I feel like snacking just to see if maybe I'm just thirsty.
I agree that the water thing really works! Or I try to figure out why I want the snack I want, chips for instance a lot of times it's the "crunch" that I want, so I'll have carrot sticks to satisfy that "crunch" without blowing the calories.
