Does seeing other people (friends or family, etc) getting fit motivate you?
I am competitive and love having other people to compete with when it comes to getting fit. I sometimes lack that internal motivation so it helps to have someone else to keep me on my toes. I get jealous when dh or my sis start working out regularly and I am just slacking.

Not really, but of my friends and family, I'm the most fit, so I don't really have anyone to be competitive with. Since I try to teach my clients not to be competitive, especially in Yoga class, I guess I really shouldn't be. While I think some competitiveness is good for people, I'm afraid they will try to go too intense with their workout, or too deep into a yoga pose, just because the person next to them can do it and will end up getting hurt.

I am. When my brother and ex-SIL got pregnant, I wanted to get pregnant too. (Just an example.)
I really like these challenges since I'm competitive. Not too many in my family are too into exercise, but if they were, I'd try to keep up with them. I know when to not overdo it though.

I'm very competitive! And if someone tells me I can't do something, well then it's on!

I don't think that is the same thing as being competitive. To me that is doing more than you are physically ready to do. I don't do that. But if I see Teresa getting fit and I am sitting on the couch doing nothing, it will motivate me to get off my butt and do something. Teresa and I have been competing with each other for years. LOL. And when I watch her getting fit I want to do something about the way I look. I think it is a good thing and we have fun with it. I think if you are injuring yourself by doing too much is different.

Me, I am very competitive. I am also a perfectionist so I have to watch that.

I can be competitive at times. Like you others have said, if I see my husband working out I can't sit on the couch and watch. I get into it too.
