That was a good article. I noticed when I gave up soda (not that I don't still sneak one occasionally ) that the more water I drank the more I was thirsty for. I'm sure part of that is because I am bf'ing, but I think when I was chronically dehydrated my body eventually just gave up trying to signal thirst. Now it is very easy for me to drink 4 quarts of water or more in a 24-hour period. Avoiding caffeine seems to be very important for me too. Lemon in the water (if you like it) makes the water easier for your body to absorb. If you increase your water intake dramatically you will find yourself suddenly going to the bathroom a lot more, but that should lessen as your fluid balance normalizes.

One thing that works for me is keeping a water bottle or a designated water cup filled and carry it with you ALL THE TIME. Keep water at your bedside and drink some if/when you wake up at night. I also keep an 8-oz cup in the bathroom and drink about that much every time I'm in there. Just keeping water available within reach at all times will make it easier to drink more.

Very good info, Jennifer! I actually do the same thing (minus the bathroom part) of carrying a water bottle around with me. I have 2 water bottles that each hold 32 oz. I try to fill it about 3x/day.

I like the idea of putting a glass in the bathroom. I'm definitely going to try that!

Great article. I'm pretty good about drinking water thankfully.
