Yesterday afternoon I decided since Ziah and Taejan both napped we’d go up to the lake.. so we packed up our nature bags, camera, some snacks and drinks and off we went..I opted to Drive since it was getting chilly and there was a chance it would rain. Noah decided to jog there, he’s training with a few kids from Karate to run in the July 4th road race!

First stop was the playground.. they played for a few but soon bored of it!

After that we headed to the beach..my kids we’re thrilled to see the lake was mostly opened BUT had a few “icebergs” I’ve never even seen it like this so it was kinda neat!

we watched one come into some rocks and then keep moving..very neat to see and hear!

they played in the sand and such for a good long time, so glad we brought shovels!

Declan trying to sink a piece of ice:

Declan calls me over and says “look mom it’s like school”

ok looked like a hole he dug to me, then he shows me what’s IN the hole:

Ok Declan, if you say so..LOL

They played some more!

Then we were off again.. they wanted to go swing and slide:

ah there’s Noah.. jogging up a storm!

Declan wanted to sketch the Lake in his journal.. i am amazed at how big he looks here.. especially next to Noah.. and Noah was this exact age when Eric and I started dating..my how time flies!

Taej loves to swing

and this year the big slide doesn’t freak me out..of course I won’t allow Taejan on it yet..LOL

Declan wanted to explore the “woods”…LOL

of course then Ziah did too!

after awhile we headed back to the beach:

I had Noah go grab my coat and put the camera in the van..which means something cool happened and I missed it!

A huge slab of ice made it to the beach and the kids got to play in the ice and snow, Declan even had his shovel on part when it started to slip back into open water so he had to go after it..LOL.. it was so fun to watch.

The best part of the afternoon for me was knowing that if 2 years ago we hadn’t decided to pull Noah from school and a few months later decided not to put the other’s in at all then 3 of those kiddo’s would have been still stuck in a classroom, missing the glory of a chilly spring day at the lake. We had the place almost entirely to ourselves, it was a near perfect afternoon, and I can’t wait to do it again!

Oh and the best part of the day for Declan and Taejan was this: Declan says he loves Stow n Go seating..LOL.. the trunk is so deep they had a blast.. kids!!

LOL..well it was like 64 yesterday..but the breeze off the lake was cooler.

Yeha we try to have as much fun as we can.. I think this is why Homeschooling is the perfect choice..long before we decided to HS I did all this kinda stuff with the kids.. so it just flows nicely kwim?

Today was colder and busier so we didn't do anythign exciting and the next week will be spent hustling with Noah to get all his work done before he leaves for Michigan.. so nothing fun I am sure.. but once the really nice weather hits we will be mostly MIA as we enjoy life!

Looks like a great time was had by all....as usual! I'm always so envious that we don't have great places to go around here like that. The lake ice looks really cool (no pun intended ). I've never seen ice on a lake in my entire life! I don't think it ever gets cold enough here to get ice on the lakes.

What fun!! I'm with Jenn, I don't know what I'd do if I ever seen ice on a lake.

Great fun! My allergies are so bad right now I don't even want to look outside. Lovely NC and allergy season.
