I thought I had decided on everything for next year but now I am second guessing myself and have been looking again. Does anyone have experience or know anything about either Learning Language Arts through Litterature or the A.C.E. curriculums? I used A.C.E. when I was homeschooled MANY years ago. I loved it then but I am wondering how it is now. Both have mixed reviews from what I have seen so I don't know.........

I wasn't a fan of ACE when I looked at it at a curriculum fair. I like LLATL and almost went with it, but ended up going with Sonlight. I think Lisa (KarateMom) uses LLATL.

Thanks, that is kinda what I was wondering, if LLATL was comparable to Sonlight.

Not really, but I think both are good.

We use LLATL and, so far, I just love it!
Reilly has really learned a whole lot this year (second grade). I really like how it spirals, coming back to cover things over and over again. Also, she's really getting to where she can work independently in the book and just let me know when she gets to a part where it says, "Discuss with teacher". (THis is a HUGE deal, because she's not been very independent up to now! And the third grade book is much more student-led.)
I'm sure I'll have more comments that I think of, but I'll have to come back because I've got errands to run!

I almost went with ACE when we started...but decided not to. I had a friend that used them and she said they were good, she just decided ot use something different.

The thing I like is that they are paces...little books...and you feel you finish stuff in sections rather than a whole book.

If you go to the site and use the placement test you can see what they are like. Matthew said they hadn't changed much from when he used them in high school.
