My kids are watching a Discovery Kids Ultimate Guide to the Awesome episode on Deadly Bugs. The world's second deadliest spider is none other than redback spider they have in Australia (and the most venemous insect on the planet is also in Australia - the Sydney Funnel Web Spider - kills an adult with one bite in an hour!). I just felt so smart that I had already heard of and seen pictures of the redback thanks to Jo!

Haha. I saw this post titlte and was like, whats this! That's us land of the deadly. So when you all coming over for a holiday?
I'm surprised the red back came in at number two I guess because nobody has died from one for a long time. Couple of days back we had some nature show on and they showed a more deadly spider then the Sydney Funnel web though! Basicaly her sister or cousin so the same family, but the guy on there said you would be dead within 20 minutes!

Scary things, those spiders! They did say that there are fewer deaths from redbacks and funnel web spiders now that there is antivenom and Australians are diligent about getting it if there is a bite.

I'd LOVE to go to Australia. I actually just got off the phone with Jamie's cousin in New South Wales. She was saying how she'd love it if we were to visit some time. I immediately thought that we'd have to split the vacation, though, because no trip to Australia would be complete without a visit to see you, Jo!

I just have to add that my Dad has ALWAYS wanted to live in Australia and thinks it's neat that I have an online friend that lives there. He asks me every other time I see him if I still talk to the lady in Australia. He's so clueless when it comes to computers and the internet that he didn't even know that I could talk to someone outside of the US and probably outside of FL if the truth was told.
