tomorrow evening is my first curriculum fair! I am super excited!!! Cant wait to check out all the cool stuff out there. (New stuff and used I heard)

What advice/thoughts can you ladies give on this?

How much money should I take?

Do I need cash/credit cards/checks?

What should I watch out for?

How exciting!

I suggest looking around the whole place first to get a feel for how much and what type of stuff is there. That can help avoid jumping to buy something and then finding it cheaper or something better elsewhere. Everywhere takes cash, most places take credit cards. Occasionally you'll find a place that only does cash or checks. If you want to stick to a budget only take a set amount of cash with you and when it's gone, you are done shopping. Before you go think about what sorts of things you are looking for. Think through impulse buys carefully to decide if it really is as great as you think it is.

Have you gone yet?
I would write a list of things you are interested in buying before you go- a list of things you need. I found out the hard way after my first curriculum fair that I had bought something that we really didn't need and because of that I didn't have money for the something I really did need/want for that year.

I go and look at the things we need first- get them, and then with the extra money I get the extra things I want or look cool.

Take good shoes, a water bottle and a pram or something to stash your purchases in.
When you see a bargin/something great step back and really think about it before handing over your cash!

Sorry - things have been insane here! I got some "things" but basically stuff that I thought we could use during the summer:

I got an A Beka My State Notebook student book
An "Anti Coloring Book" with some excellent art type activities and no kids to laugh at what he draws grrr

one area that he struggles in is grammar. I found a Daily Gram book which has a 5 minute "review" of capitalization, punctuation, parts of speech, and combining sentences to help him master that. **I know, I know - the fact that I taught for years in PS is showing with this one~ give me time

I also found a Spelling Power curriculum. Has anyone used this - and did you like it?

Oh, my sister and I LOVED doing the state notebook! We did one, and then concocted the same sorts of stuff for a handful of other states we were interested in learning about as well. Then we begged for the province notebook and did all ten provinces and three territories in Canada! I hope he enjoys it!
