I pulled out my oldest daughter's old beginning readers to see if my youngest would be interested.

She definitely is and thinks it's so neat that she has her own.

I'm reading most of it at this point, but she's following along I let her read the words she recognizes or sound out words that are easy, which ends up being maybe one or two words per page. And if the word rhymes with the word in the last line, is a repeating word, or is predictable...she gets even more excited as it comes easily to her.

I know she'll have them memorized shortly, but that's all part of the process, in my opinion. She'll be able to read it all from memory and that will help build her confidence, and then she'll recognize even more words as a result.

This is so exciting!

When I was little I memorized a board book of the fox and the hound. I was so proud! And even more proud when I was reading because I was reading. She is on her way!
