It seems I remember someone here using this. I've decided I need to include geography for the boys & of all the ones I've looked at this one seems like the best fit for us. I've read the reviews at Homeschool Reviews and no one had anything negative to say about it. I looked at the sample lessons and it really looks fun, very informative, easy enough for the younger ones & challenging enough for Jack. For anyone who has used this, what can you tell me about your experience with it? What would you recommend as far as all the additional books, etc.? Any other helpful information?
Thanks!

We used it..it was good..a bit more than I needed at the time since Declan was only 5.5 ..but I plan to use it again in a few years!

Yeah, I saw that there's alot to it, but I figure I can focus on the geography & skip the rest (or just touch on it a little), especially science & literature, since we'll be covering those subjects elsewhere. Sort of tweak it here & there, but on the whole it looks like a good solid program.

It is really good. We focused on the Geography but even that was more..since Declan was so young..when he's 8 or 9 and Ziah is 6 or 7 and Taejan is 4 or 5 it will be perfect..LOL

I've looked it over and it looks good. It skips more countries than I'd like it to, but then that would be massive to do all of them and I suppose, especially for the smaller countries, it wouldn't be hard to make your own units based on the ones in GtG.

Someone one TWTM recommended this bundle for Galloping the Globe... http://www.geomatters.com/products/details.asp?ID=158

ETA: The people there who have used it say that it covers all of this:

Subjects included in this unit study are Geography, Bible, history, science, literature, and vocabulary. Maps and flags, reproducibles, puzzles, games, and craft ideas are also included!

Many of the literature books suggested, if not all, listed can be found at your local library. Great recipe ideas, crafts, outline maps, flags to color, and much more are included!
Christian Character Matters

And some people only add in phonics and math to make this their complete curriculum.

It can be as secular as you want it. It's just basically a guide/teacher manual with some activities you can copy. It gives resources and book suggestions etc...

ok I found the sample pages and really like this!! Definitly has alot we could use even though we are more secular!! I would probably skip some parts but looks like there would still be alot to do with it and I know that Hailey would enjoy it!! Oh and Amazon has it for a GREAT price!! Thanks for posting this, I tink we will be adding it for 3rd grade in the fall

Awesome!! I just ordered galloping the glob on Amazon, I'm going to make Hailey a "passport" to go with it with stickers for when we "visit" each country. I am really excited about this, looks like alot of fun!!

Than when we start book 3 of story of the world ( when Haileys in 4th grade) I'll probably buy Cantering the country!!

I had forgotten about this! I read up on this last year and thought it sounded right up our street. Adds to want list.

This has been on my list for some time now. It looks like so much fun. I looked into last year sometime and put it on the list. I'll probably get it in the next few months with the rest of my stuff.
