I'm planning out the rest of our year..I prefer a loose routine to a strict schedule. I am trying to come up with a subject "routine" and I was thinking of doing something like subjects 1-7 and we start with subject 1 and work till we are done working for the day..if that means we get thru all 7 awesome..if say we only get to #4 then the next day we start with #5 and work thru until we are done..that may mean we loop back to #2.. make sense? Anyone do anything like this?

Makes sense to me. We do math, phonics and reading everyday ( school days lol ) and then do the other subjects. I would like to say we get them all every day but somtimes it doesn't happen. So if we still had say history and writing left then the next day we do math , phonics, reading and then history and writing before science. That way in a week she at least gets some of everything and always the most important. We school year round too so we have plenty of time to cover it all

I think that could work well.

That could be a good way to make sure some of the more forgettable subjects actually get done. I like them to do Math and Lang Arts everyday, and the rest we do what we're in the mood for. Unfortunately that means a few subjects don't get done very often.

Yeah math and phonics will be everyday subjects..so I have to tweak the loop...

We will no longer be schooling year round..with Noah in school and now I may be taking care of my friends 6.5 year old on school breaks and all summer, schooling during those times will be near impossible...

I think it is actually called a "loop schedule" and lots of people with more than child do this. There was quite a bit of feedback/suggestion on it on TWTM forum. You may also just google homeschool loop schedule and see what pops up.

Here is one of TWTM threads on looping (lots of posts and links to others' schedules): http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/show...t=loop+schedule

This sounds like an awesome idea. We begin our lessons again on Jan, 5th after a 2 week holiday vacation and I may give this a try. I off to goggle the loop schedule. Let us know if it works for you. I am curious.
