Math is not my strongest subject, in fact I totally sucked at it while in school

How do I teach number bonds? I don't even know what they are I feel like such a dunce

Number bonds is not a term we use here so I googled it. There were a few websites with ideas such as this one: http://home-ed.info/maths/number_bonds.html

See, our curriculum calls them addition families so I've never heard that term until now

Thanks Heather, he ended up teaching me, LOL. Go figure Steven (my fiance) explained it to me this morning before he went to work, TH Thanks for the website, I so need to do more reading up

We do number bonds with Singapore math. It is just another way to solidify math facts. i.e. instead of saying 3+5=8, you draw a number bond with 8 as the whole and 3 and 5 as the parts that make up the whole. You read it as "3 and 5 make 8."
