I love the curriculum, its challenging yet fun. But I hate so much about it its not even funny. First of all are the problems we had when enrolling David in the CAVA program. It took a little over 2 months to complete his enrollment. Then when we finally completed enrollment we got the computer fast enough (within a few days) but the other materials took FOREVER. I had to call every day to find out when the materials were shipping. And when we finally got the majority fo the materials, phonics was still missing. This whole time I am expected to be doing lessons from the lesson planner (online). We just got the Phonics stuff about 2 weeks ago. We started this whole thing in January!

Now we just finished the spring break they SCHEDULED. And I log onto the OLS to start todays lessons and get through 1-1/2 lessons and the OLS goes down for maintenance. Now it makes NO sense to me. We just had over a week "off" where parents were not required to log on to the OLS (OLS is Online School) and get lessons, log attendance, etc... when this could have been done. So now instead of maintaining my typical schedule (on a day i need to since we have afternoon appts) I am having to modify and hope the OLS is up soon.

This just plain annoys me!!!

Oh that's frustrating! It seems a lot of people are having to modify schedules this year for one reason or another!

Well, lets just say nothing got done, nothing, they played video games the whole time. Daddy took one look at the first lesson and said "nope, too much, can't figure this one out!"

LOL, DH is clueless when it comes to the lessons...

Oh no!! I'm not sure Dh could handle our lessons either if it were all up to him...there are a couple things like ETC that is self explanatory, but the math, bible, and LLATL...yeah, he probably wouldn't do those. He might do science really well though since he thinks like that- they'd probably have a blast with that. But JUST that! LOL

I about killed DH when I walked in the door. The conversation that followed was funny though.
Me: Outside now.
DH: UH, David, mommy caught us, I'm in trouble
(walk outside to discuss)
Me: So, I assume that since you are playing NASCAR that you have completed lessons today?
DH: Well, uh, first we p[layed the Wii Fit, David got exercise.
Me: Great, so anything else?
DH: Well, the lessons seem confusing
Me: The lessons are very simple. You read what the computer says out loud, and you help David do the work sheets. If theres a video, you watch it, and if theres a story in the reading room, you click reading room. Can you show me the problem?
DH: It confused me.
Me: How?
DH: I don't know, it just did! Anyways David needed a break.
Me: Um, 10 days off school and all day today with nothing? You wanted to play NASCAR didn't you?
DH: We played the Fit first!

Well, I was surprised this AM when I woke up late (DH had turned my alarm off) and found him doing lessons with David, and trying to juggle the baby who was trying to maul the computer AND trying to convince Melanie that she really wanted to eat her breakfast (he gave her grits, which she HATES instead of Oatmeal which she LOVES) and not draw on walls...

He said he felt bad for not doing what he said he would do and just playing video games so he was making it up by taking all lessons today and letting me sleep...

That's so nice! DH would give up in minutes saying he didn't know how to convince him to pick up a pencil.

It was nice. I've barely slept at all since the new year so to wake up on my own and find all the kids dressed and doing their morning stuff was so nice. He even stuck to my usual schedule! And took the baby for labs yesterday! I feel much more calm and relaxed and at ease.

Next year will be better, no K12 drama anymore!
