I'm looking for resources for geography for Gr 2. We haven't done any this year as I want to focus on the foundations of his education, ie: reading/writing and maths.

What can you recommend?

We're using geography songs and it's working well and the songs are kind of fun.

I love geography songs, but you would probably want to supplement. How about Galloping the Globe? I haven't tried it, but hope to next year.

I want to do Galloping the Globe when Bailey and Toby are in 4th/2nd. It sounds like you can make it as in-depth as you want to. For example, to cover Africa, you would just spend more time on it and get more of the suggested resources, I would think. It has lots of good reviews and you can spend up to 3 or 4 years covering it all.

Geography Songs - AUDIO MEMORY - You Never Forget What You Sing! (1-800-365-SING)

My kids have actually picked up on incredible amounts of geography incidentally. We often do map work where they find whatever place we've been reading about on the US or world map. Just through that they've both gotten a good feel for where countries and states and capitals are. It's just happened naturally with no real teaching.
