I started Nathaniel on a summer workbook the day after he finished school. We started on the weekend, but then decided to skip weekends. By his own drive, we've gotten through 15 days of work in 10 days! I only ask him to do one page in the work book a day, but he really enjoys the work and has been doing more than one page the past few days, and most of the time he does it on his own. He's only 6 and I'm really happy with how he is doing his work on his own. In addition to his workbook pages, I have him write 6 of his sight words (3 times each), we do a counting/sorting exercise with beans, and he reads a page in his chapter book and we review what he's already read. I know it is just summer work, reviewing kindergarden and preparing for first grade.. But heck if it continues to be this easy next year will be a breeze! LOL
I'm sure it will be a little tougher as we start doing things he hasn't learned before, I'm just happy that this summer work has been going so well!
