I haven't been able to find anything around here. We moved this year and there just isn't much so I just started one. I have one new member. It has only been up a day or two so I think that is pretty good. I hope I am not biting off more than I can chew but my kids need some activities and friends.

I did that 3 years ago..I have since stepped down as "leader" but the group was the best thing I did as a new homeschooler. Do some google searches for websites that list home school group info and get your info listed..it will greatly increase your members!

That is great!! I'm sure if it becomes to much, you can step down. Its probably something some of the people in your area have thought of, but no one wants to start themselves. I talked to the Navy School Liaison here and she was saying how she wanted to start a homeschooling group for our area... and she said if I was going to homeschool next year, than I could be the leader of the group; since I was the first in my area to talk to her about it. LOL I gave her a crazy look. lol I think everyone can use a group near them, but it does take some one special to step up and volunteer to be incharge of it. Good luck!!!

I am planning to do that next. I need to get my plans a little organized so the group doesn't look pathetic when I list it. This weekend I am going to get everything together and then start submitting it to websites and stuff.

Well that was me. I was looking for one that was already out there because I just don't know how much time I can commit to running it but I am going to try. I am also going to try to get some helpers because I just can only do so much.

That's great!! Good for you! I wouldn't have the first clue how to start a group, but (I think) I would probably try anyway. Like everyone else said... you can always step down if necessary.

You are so brave! I would not know the first thing about starting one and we really need one in our area. There are not many groups where I am from. Good luck with everything and keep us posted.

WTG! I was asked to help run mine this year and declined. Not sure if we will have co-op now ...but surely someone will step up.

Oh...and I agree with Heather - your daughter is beautiful in your siggy pic.

I am stepping into the leadership position for our group this year. I bought this book and it had some great tips, esp for starting a group. You know like do's and don'ts, etc. Here is the link. Amazon.com: Homeschool Co-ops: How to Start Them, Run Them and Not Burn Out: Carol Topp: Books
