I broke down and bought Sonlight 1 Science. The Instructor's Guide came with 5 of the books, all for 15$...that's IT!!

I went online, it's the current edition, and JUST the instructor's guide is 38$!

WOW! I am so glad I put back some of the puzzles and games I had so I could get this instead!!

So, needless to say, we're doing Sonlight science this fall!

Okay, I just double checked online and it's not the current edition but the rest of the books I need are really cheap on Amazon and/or Sonlight, and the science experiement supply list is the same as the kit they sell online. So I can get the rest of this for very cheap! YAY!

All in all, a successful day!

That's an awesome deal! We just finished Sonlight Science 1 a few months ago. Which version did you get? They updated all the elementary sciences this year, but the version we did and the Science 2 we're doing this year are still great IMO (both the revision before the current version).

Actually, I just checked and it says it's the 2004 edition. So I suppose it's quite old. But it's complete and hardly used. Plus the three books I need and the experiment supplies are available online still for a good price. So I figure, I can't really lose...right?

We did the 2007 version. I don't think much has changed with magnets and lights and mirrors in those intervening 3 years so I think it'll be fine lol And for $15 and including 5 books, you really can't go wrong!

Which books did you get?

That is great. I would of so bought that. I am looking for used Sonlight right now but if I dont get used I will just be getting the IG and adding what I have to to it.

We had a used cirruculum sale but they didnt have the Sonlight I was looking for or I would of bought. I did find my Abeka readers, the math and some other things for the lang arts. It was all really cheap so I was glad.

I think that is a GREAT deal...and as long as it is a complete program for the year it was used, then you are golden! I really love used book sales...just wish I could go to more than the two we have here! I would so travel to Knoxville and Maryville to do some if money and time allowed.

The books that came with it were:
Magic school bus at the waterworks
science activities vol 1
Starting point science vol 1
Why do people eat
The Usborne first Encyclopedia of Animals

And they also had What makes you ill on sale by someone else for 1$!

So all I need for the four day program is The usborne first guide to the universe and What's inside you. Both of which I can get on Amazon with free shipping! Bonus!

If I decide I want to do the 5 day program I will need Pasteur's fight against microbes as well.
Besides this, I just have to gather a few things for science experiments and I'm done! But this should be easy since Dh's family are all chemists and physicists and they have just about anything you can imagine or they know where to get it.

I'm just so happy about this purchase!

AWESOME!!! I'd really recommend Pasteur's Fight Against Microbes. It's a great book and the kids really enjoyed it. Also, the Discover and Do DVD is very helpful. It's Sonlight produced (starring Justin Holzmann and filmed by Luke Holzmann - a little nepotism there lol) so you can only get it from them, but it shows every experiment being done and that has been quite useful for us.
