I was just thinking about this because we are starting Heart of Dakota next fall for the first time. I am apprehensive and I know it won't be perfect out of the box (we are just doing History and Science with HOD and maybe some of the copywork/spelling for Scotty), but I am still really excited to get into it and see if we like it as much as I hope we do.

Anyone else trying something *new* and excited to start?

Everything I am using is *new*! I'm very excited but probably most excited about the christian worldview program we'll be doing.

Mine isn't really new, because it is still part of My Father's World, but it is a new year for us:) We will be studying Ancient history, starting with creation and following the Old Testament, while learning about all the ancient civilizations. The one thing I'm most excited about is that we will be celebrating the Old Testament feasts (Rosh Hosanah, Yom Kippur, Passover, etc) as well as starting off with a Sabbath celebration. It looks like a lot of fun:)

Ooh, then I can ask you how you like this because I want to use it in a year or two!

I am going to start some ancient history with my boys and I'm excited about that. Other new things include Writing with Ease, Rod & Staff science... that's all I can think of right now.

Writing with Ease is great (for us). Bryce uses it and I have seen big improvements in his writing. Scotty was not quite jiving with the copywork (we lost him around Alice in Wonderland! LOL), so I stopped for him and will use copywork from HOD. But I can't say enough good things about WWE - it really goes slow and steady and we needed that!

True lol The language program is going really well. The kids have been able to talk a little in Romanian with their cousin in Romania.

Hmmm......we are using some new science books........and I am still debating which of the 2 Grammar programs I purchased will be used. Oh and I am still tinkering with the thought of LLATL. Can you say indecisive lately? Oh and I switched from Spelling Power to the Natural Speller for now. Those are the only "new" things I can think of, but we school year round so have already started some of what is listed.

NOEO Science. Really looking forward to that & hoping it's a good fit with the boys. Science is THE hardest thing to find a good fit with.
