Grade and/or age of your children: Drake, he is only 9 months old right now

What do you hope to get out of this board? Support and Ideas / Information

Do you have a style or curriculum you prefer? eclectic? I really do not know at this time. I still have a little while to make up my mind.

Does your local government regulate homeschooling in any way? I am from NYC (currently living in AZ) and I will be moving back home next month. NY State is way too strict for my liking, so DH and I will be making one last move when DS is ready to start school so the rules are more laxed.

What do you hope to get out of this board? Other moms that know what I'm going through. I don't know anyone IRL that home schools, and everyone we know thinks we are crazy.

Do you have a style or curriculum you prefer? I'm too new at this to know, yet.

Does your local government regulate homeschooling in any way? They have to learn history, language arts, science, math, and reading, and are supposed to learn for at least 1000hrs per year, 600 of which must be in the subjects I mentioned. We are supposed to keep a log of hours and a portfolio of their work and grades. No one ever checks on us, though, as the only time they can request to view our stuff is by a judge's order.

Anything else? Ummm...nope.

Grade and/or age of your children: 5th and 4th grade girls, 2 1/2 and nearly 4 yrs old boys. Due in November.

What do you hope to get out of this board? Friendly ear that understands the ups and downs with a homeschooling lifestyle.

Do you have a style or curriculum you prefer? We are on our second yrs using Heart of Dakota. I'm doing letter of the week from Confessions of a home schooler with the boys. Once I get a new bookshelf, I plan to bring out the Montessori works for my boys.

Does your local government regulate homeschooling in any way? Nope. We send in a yearly letter of intent

Anything else? We've always homeschooled and have changed things up as the kids matured and our needs changed.

Grade and/or age of your children: We're still finishing up this school year, so Dylan 9 (3rd), Peyton 8 (2nd/3rd), Sydney 6 (K), Kennedy 3 (Pre-K)

What do you hope to get out of this board? Support and share ideas

Do you have a style or curriculum you prefer? I am eclectic for sure, but have learned I really like BJU, so may do more of it next year.

Does your local government regulate homeschooling in any way? No, and very thankful as I needed to take off 2 months because of my pregnancy "joys"

Anything else? I love this new path we've taken, and can't imagine it any other way!
