Glad you've joined us, even if you just want to lurk. Feel free to jump in. Don't worry about the attention span. That's normal. I don't know anyone who spends more than about 30 minutes a day homeschooling a 6 year old anyway. Does everything seem to be going well? Do you think he's learning things a typical 5-6 year old would learn?

Hi and welcome to the board!

My 6yo doesn't have much of a tolerance for "doing school" either. I stick stuff in where I can, and we have a few things that I do have him do, but because of his attention we usually just get each of those 3 or so things in once or maybe twice each week. About an hour is the max I can get out of him, and that's if I really start in on him within minutes after he wakes up. For me, it was about finding the window where he's most open to it, and jumping on it. LOL

Welcome aboard!

Thanks ladies.

He really enjoys reading but on his own time. If he's not in the mood he really isnt in the mood LOL. But most days he asks to do it. We try and do those lessons everyday(they are only 15-20 mins long) and then one other subject for about 20 mins worth but if that doesnt happen then we do it the next day instead. Im really focused on getting his reading started and writing.

He LOVES science. He never misses a "how its made" episode on Discovery Science channel so thats nice to see. I dont like science LOL.

Thx Jenn.

You know we got Connor an electrical circuit board and he and his daddy put together a few different things like flying fans(the book called it a UFO) using circuits that snapped together and with battery help worked. It was really cool and my son LOVES the buggers cuz he's all into electrical anything LOL.

I cant wait til he and his dad do a volcano LOL.
