In we were going to put Edward in public school, he would start Kindergarten in the fall of this year. Since we are homeschooling, I'm not going to worry about it. It's been 21 years since I was in Kindergarten, and all I remember is the class room and my teacher (who was a delightful lady!). What "subjects" do they learn? I'm going to go over the alphabet and the sounds of the letters and teach Edward how to sound out words for reading since he's been asking about learning to read. I want to teach him math, and I have my own idea of how I'm going to do that. But I also want to teach other subjects, like science and history and the like. What subjects did you go over when your child was in the "kindergarten" stage??

Check this link..
Typical Course of Study | World Book Inc

I use it as a sort of "check list" since except for the 3R's we do a lot of unschooling

That's a good link. You can also google your state's standards (which will be written in legal jargon and kinda hard to figure out) or look at the library for a series of books called "What your (x) grader should know." (Or in this case, what your "kinergartener" should know.)
