of Edward. Tonight, we were going through a workbook and circling "same" items. On one of the pages, there were words that you had to circle the same as the first. Once he did that (without help!) we sounded out each word and read them together! And he did such an awesome job! He read 8 words. Before bed, we tried to go over them again and he could only read 2 of the 8 and I got a little discouraged, but I keep telling myself that this is only day 1 and he's doing really well so far! And I can't expect him to just remember how to sound out words just yet since we are just now going over sounds that letters make.

That's great! I wouldn't expect ANY child to do something as well at bedtime as they did earlier in the day. Being tired makes it difficult to think.

That's great that he is getting it!!! I know mine are the same way I can teach them something and about an hour later they seem to only remember part of it, I think it is normal for this age. Repetition will make it stick.

Oh my goodness yes!! I did question for a while if I could do it and I still wonder about the later years of his schooling, but I'll be okay if I take one day at a time!
