I considered it (before I knew about Apologia), but the price made me back out.

Chrystal - I was more leaning towards Apologia but I wasn't sure if it was enough. Do you use anything else or just Apologia for science? Did you purchase the notebook? If you did, do you think it was worth the money? TIA!

Apologia is definitely enough! I love it! Actually, I'm very good friends with a homeschooling family from church who also uses Apologia (I didn't know that when I chose it). She has 3 in high school, and a 4th who just graduated. The 4th who just graduated has gone on to national science competitions in D.C. each of the past two years ... using only Apologia as his curriculum all these years.

We're using the young explorer series right now (of course). I'm doing it on a semester basis (1st through 6th grades) so that we'll be able to do all 6 books twice. The first time through, we're using it as an intro. We're doing some of the experiments, but not all of them. We're learning all of the key facts (things you'd find in bold letters or highlighted in pretty much any publisher's text), and we're learning a few in-depth details *if* he's interested and/or *if* we have time. The second time through will be a cover-to-cover, in-depth look at each book, and yes, we'll use the notebook the second time through. We're not doing any writing at all the first time through.
