I know I'm not homeschooling yet, but I figured you ladies may be able to help me. We are taking a family vacation next month and I wanted to plan some educational activities, I was thinking a scavenger hunt of some sort for one place, but I'm stuck on anything else.

I'm looking for activities for my 9 year old stepson, he's going into the 4th grade next school year. We will be visiting the South Carolina State Museum, EdVenture Children's Museum and Riveranks Zoo in Columbia, SC. We will also be spending a day in Savannah, GA, and possibly a day in Charleston, SC.

Can anyone point me in the direction online where I can find resources to make scavenger hunts, or games, or something for these places? I would also love to hear what you ladies have done on vacations to get ideas.

Also, if anyone is familiar with the Savannah, GA area...any suggestions on what to do or see? We are a family of 4 (2 adults and children age 9 and will be 8 months) and on a budget.

Thanks in advance!

We were just in Savannah in April.. I highly suggest River Street for some views, Fort Pulaski for some learning ( avoid the other fort we went to as it's privately owned and very expensive for not much content)
Forts Pulaski and Jackson : Wayzley Academy

We also went to Charleston and Patriots Point is a hugely awesome place to visit:

Thanks! I do plan to go to river street. I'm very familiar with Charleston and patriots point, I just hope we have the funds to go there. I'm from the Columbia, sc area so we will be out there visiting my parents

I haven't been to any of those places, so I can't give you any first hand knowledge. Have you already called those places to see if they offer a scavenger hunt? I know the history museum here does one for elementary ages, but you're required to have a certain number of participants. It's worth a shot. They may have something written up that you could follow.
