Today I ordered our main geography/history curriculum for the boys. I ordered the newest edition of Galloping the Globe with CD-rom from the publisher's site Geography Matters.

I considered getting a used copy but after reading about what was included on the CD, I was sold. The CD comes with printable maps, flags, & activity pages and over 135 Bonus Pages! It has all the reproducible content found in the book too. That works out great for me so I can print maps and reproducibles for the boys.

All I have left is to get some of the recommended material to use with the curriculum. I plan on getting:
- Children Just Like Me by Barnabas and Anabel Kindersley
- Geography From A to Z by Jack Knowlton
- Missionary Stories with the Millers by Mildred A. Martin
- Atlas (Beginner World Atlas)

I am adding these books which shoulld work with our geography studies:
- Hands On Geography by Maggie S. Hogan
- Around the World in 80 Tales by Saviour Pirotta
- Using Literature to Learn About Children Around the World: A Thematic Approach to Cultural Awareness by Judith Cochran

I will be adding reading books to our list that we can get from our library. I canot wait to review this curriculum over the summer and add it to my plans for our new homeschool year!

We used GTG this past year. We didn't follow it to a T but it was a good resource. Have fun!

I plan on using it for both our History and Geography. I want to follow it loosely spending about 3 weeks per country and extending it to use over the next four years.

I don't plan on using the science books it recommends or the other six books it listed. I just liked the ones I listed that I know the boys would be interested in. I am not sure about the Missionary stories, but perhaps we can use it for read alouds and count them as part of our bible studies.

We use our geography studies as part of our history. music, social studies, and art curriculum. I guess that is why I am using so many books this coming school year.

I highly recommend the Children Like Me book. My kids love that one. I often find that one of them snuck in up to their bedroom to enjoy on their own. :-)

We had an opportunity to borrow "Children Just Like Me" from our library and we enjoyed using it when we did our geography studies. I want to get our own copy soon. I have seen it at our local FEAST store for $19.99 but I hope to find a less expensive copy over the summer before we start homeschooling again in the Fall. If not, we will be using a copy from the library.
