Which apologia are you looking at? In the biology one we did all the experiements. The kit wasn't too expensive for the disections, and the rest were homemade objects. My dd it! We did have someone lend us the slides because they were too expensive.

In Marine Biology we just would look up the slides online instead of buying the kit. Saved us a lot of money. Again, we bought the speicmens and they weren't expensive.

In chemistry, I think the kit was around $30. No slides!

You don't have to do all of the experiments, but if you are doing biology I wouldn't skit the disections! They really were fun. And many of the homemade ones cost little to nothing.

We did one of the elementary ones and we did not do all the experiements. We just picked and choose which ones we had time for and seemed fun. We also didn't read the whole book either.
