Has anyone experienced a bit of hearing loss after having fever?? I started getting sick on Sunday with a horrible headache which by afternoon started in a fever. I am still running a low grade fever now, but I am having trouble with my left ear and can not hardly hear anything. I finally went in to the Dr Wed afternoon, and was told I had a virus and that after the fever is finally gone and I am still having problems they would test further but were not going to do anything right now.

Could it be an ear infection? Or even a sinus infection? Sometimes when I have bad allergies (which can spike a fever) it blocks my hearing tubes as well.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well Hope you feel better soon!

Never after just a fever but with a lot of viruses, sinus infection or the most obvious would be an ear infection. My ears were a bit off after I had roseola too. But eventually it fixes itself.

Anytime my sinuses act up my hearing goes to crap. Unfortunately it also often has a weird impact on my vision and when you're legally blind, going half deaf isn't really the best companion for it, lol.

I'm sorry you're sick, but I hope it clears up soon for you. I'd probably have the doc check for any ear or sinus infections. I know both of them can strike at a moment's notice without any sort of warning signs or symptoms.

Yeah, I'm also going to vote for a sinus issue on this one. I don't think fever alone would cause it unless something neurological is going on.

I had a high fever this winter and while I was sick my hearing was off - I attributed it to the fever and sure enough once it broke for good things went back to normal. It just felt like I had water trapped in there while I was sick. Could be because the head is pounding so badly when the fever is high that makes more pressure in the ear canal. If your doctor doesn't seem concerned, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Feel better soon!

Well, after now 10 days, I do not have a fever now!!! I ended up going back into the Dr because I was getting worse and my throat was swelling up so much and he put me on steroids which immediately took the swelling out. I have felt better too until today, my throat is hurting a bit again and I STILL can not hear out of my left ear!!! It is driving me crazy and that ear is hurting too now I am SO over this!!
