When Ben was in 1st, I bounced around all over the place, because I wasn't sure what I liked and what would work for him. When Daniel's in first (doing K this year), he'll do:

Reading - Explode the Code and books aloud
Math - Life of Fred and Miquon
Writing - Abeka cursive (and/or possibly Handwriting w/o Tears print)
Science - Apologia (with Ben)
Social Studies - Mystery of History (with Ben)
Spelling - Sequential Spelling
Art - probably Abeka, but undecided
Music - I'm a former music teacher, so I make up my own stuff
Bible - Rod & Staff and/or Rainbow Lessons

Brandi I am using
Reading: Abeka
SS/Science: Abeka
Math: Hopefully Saxon math
Music/Art: our homeschool group offers enrichment classes here locally
Handwriting: Online printable sheets to make a copybook
Spelling: Dolch word lists and Spellingcity, I will throw in some vocab from our reading

I'm open to suggestions though

Hi Heather, I remember you from this board a while back. I have not posted in awhile. How are you? You once helped me with a budget. LOL

Is Calvert online?

DS is using Heart of Dakota's Little Hearts for His Glory with 1st grade options and Hooked on Phonics, Spelling Workout and Math Mammoth. He's officially only K this year though, next year for his official 1st year he'll be doing Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory, continuing with Math Mammoth.

Yup We're good Ani's 11 and just finished 7th, Cameron's 9 and working his way through 3rd, Fritz is 5 and finishing up kindergarten, and Adrian is 3 and getting ready to start pre-k.

Calvert is Calvert School | Homeschool Curriculum | Virtual School Programs They are expensive, but do offer scholarships. It's a brick and mortar private school in Baltimore MD, but they've been doing homeschool curricula since around 1905 or something like that.

We haven't started yet (obviously ) but I will be using Rod & Staff, probably without their reading program because she will already be reading. I'm thinking about BJU Bible Truths and Heritage Studies to round it out.

We are using Rod & Staff reading, handwriting, phonics, math and art. We will be piecing together from online/library resources for our science/history. This is our first year so we have NO CLUE if this curriculum will work for us or not. Time will tell!

We use:
Moving Beyond the Page (LA/Science/Social Studies)
Dreambox.com for math and I am going to add the elementary Life of Fred series this coming year
Handwriting Without Tears
All About Spelling

We run a Saturday art class with a playgroup and for music I think she is going to start piano lessons this fall. She does gymnastics once a week and we may look into a homeschool gym class at our rec center.
