And I know the only reason I am is b/c he will be hs'ing. i will not have to say good bye and drop him off for 40 hours a wk for the first time in his life. I will not be leaving him in a room with people that I don't know much about their background, parents, etc. I am looking forward to our first day of school. If he was going to ps I would be a mess this whole summer. The beginning of last yr I was a mess just thinking about it. I would be dreading every moment leading up to the first day and every day after until Christmas break. And then after that I'd start all over again!! Anyways thought I would share b/c most of my friends think I'm crazy that I'm not counting down and excited about getting the kids out of the house!!

I understand ... Several of my friends are agonizing over sending their little one to pre-k for the first time this year (all of the kids were in the NICU together and because of their beginning qualify for spec ed pre-k) I am so glad i don't have to worry about sending the girls away to school. They are so ahead of other kids their age too because I have always planned on hs'i ng and so I took advantage of every teachable moment and not just waited for them to go off to school. We have started a little "formal" school this summer and the girls and I are loving it! They ask to "do school" just about every day and love to tell people they have school work LOL

I think it's really black and white. People either can't wait to kick their kids out the door, or they don't want to let go at all. I'm the latter!

Totally understand! When we first decided to homeschool I was a little sad about not having the "first day" excitement, but now I can't wait for school to start so we can do all kinds of field trips when it's not super crowded and I got to spend money on our chosen curriculum instead of wrapping paper for a school fundraiser
