Are you on track? Is your curriculum working for you? Are you taking any time off over the next few weeks?

If you count that she already knew most of the things that she will learn in pre-k, then yes we are on track. The problem is that she already knew most of it and this semester we have mainly been working on review. We are on winter break now (because I am subbing for another three year year old for the next two weeks) and during this time I plan to go back over our goals and see what we need to do for next semester. I think I am also going to order Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy lessons and use that along with leap frog videos some next semester.

The past few weeks have been a period of adjustment for us. My 5 year old was bored with our current curriculum and needs to move up to the next level. My 4 year old wants to do school with us but doen't have the attention span for longer lessons and becomes a distraction whe he gets bored. My 2, almost 3 year old, is obsessed with letters and letter sounds and is on the cusp of sounding out simple words. It was easier when just Evelyn was up in the afternoons and the other kids napped, but now Reid isn't napping and it's harder to get lessons done. DH and I share the teaching role since we both work full time and usually we get most of "school" done in the afternoon/evening. I know we'll work through this and find a new system but right now it just feels chaotic!

I recommend Leapfrog DVDs for both of you! They're wonderful as both a teaching tool and a way to get 30 minutes of uninterrupted time to teach another child.

Are you on track? Not at all we're about 3 1/2 months behind where our goal is and 3 years behind where he "should" be. In math he's about 2 months behind goal. 4 1/2 year ahead of where he "should be.
Is your curriculum working for you? He loves unit studies because it's easy and doesn't stress him. He love LOF and will do chapter upon chapter in his spare time for fun. I would like him to do more but having a stress free house hold is nice. I don't feel he's learning enough or being challenged at all but I'll take whatever he's willing to give. If it takes him longer to get through school so be it.
Are you taking any time off over the next few weeks? He "forgot" his unit studies so now he's Doubling up on math until we get home.

We are.... a month (?) behind where I thought we'd be right now. However, that is because we took a month or so off to travel to see my parents. So, we're right on track. Things are going great, she loves the curriculum, the more I use it the more I wonder if we just want to stay in the box or not, but then I remember reasons I don't want to, and continue to plan outside the box for 2 years from now (watching for the curriculum I want now, because we have a thrift store near us that gives GREAT deals on homeschool stuff-- things like ABeka readers & curriculum guides for $.25 and $2 respectively!!). We're not breaking for Christmas, because DH doesn't get time off for Christmas, and it's easier to keep her out of trouble if we have school every day. Keeps her brain busy, I like to think.

We're actually pretty far ahead at the moment. Anywhere from 40-100% completed for the year in most of their subjects. This is a good thing since we haven't done squat in the last week. Well they've done mostly Language Arts stuff, and a little bit of math, but nothing even remotely structured(or actual lessons for that matter).
The kids were all sick in some form over the last couple of weeks and Lex came down with pneumonia, which triggered her asthma to kick in full force. She's been in and out of the doctors and hospital for the last week. She's starting to feel a little better now though. Once her lungs heal a bit and clear up she'll probably be feeling much better. I had her doctor change some of her meds because the others weren't working. But he gave her the wrong dose of one not realizing it's a med she already takes daily,(and she takes the adult dose, he gave her the childrens chewable version, which of course tastes much better, rofl).
We'll be taking probably a few days to a week off. Not so much for holidays, but to give the kids a chance to recoup. They got sick because we went to a birthday party and TWO different kids there were both sick. I really loathe parents that ignore the fact that their child is really sick and shouldn't be out and about sharing that germy love(both little ones, almost 2 and 3, so.. yeah, they share germs well, lol). If it were just colds, wouldn't be a problem, but it wasn't/isn't. My sister called after she found out what one of them had to let me know "just in case" because she thought the little boy only had a mild cold. My niece ended up getting really sick too. Most of the kids that were there got sick. Sorry long rant, just peeves me to no end how little consideration for others some folks have.
Our curriculum is working just fabulous for us. We tend to deviate off the norm a bit though. I add in a LOT of extra stuff to what the curriculum has. Their Music, Spanish, Technology, Health, Home Ec., Ohio History and I forgot the last one are all done by me. Those aren't included in their curriculum. Their Art is included, but I add a ton into it, otherwise we'd be done for the year in Art by now, lol. Leo's Music is still included in his but we already finished it. It's a bit too easy and basic, which is great for younger kids, but he's beyond that level. We do other stuff for music.(piano being the biggest thing).

This is DS's kindergarten year and he's already reading on a 3rd-4th grade level (doing a lot of his own reading plus reading with me), writing neatly, about halfway or more through first grade math and just very self motivated in pursuing knowledge with many interests. I feel at liberty to be pretty laid back this year. He's the kind of 5yo boy that would prefer to be digging outside or building things than filling in worksheets.
Basically, right now, I have no track and we've been pretty light on formal education, with plenty of days off, since DH went away on a short mission trip a month ago. I'm only beginning to regather wind to my sails after rereading my favorite home school resources this week. I started the year with a very specific and preplanned curricula with day to day schedule which was beautiful for a time but DS doesn't work that way. He wants to go flying ahead with one thing and plant himself and go deep with something else. I'm currently using little of what I started with but am very happy with our current selection and daily schedule.
So, I'm measuring our progress by how much I've learned about him as a learner and myself as a teacher and how much we've grown in our relationship. As far as that goes the year is going great.

Are you off track? With the our recent move in October, unpacking and settling in, we did not resume homeschooling until late November. We are 2 1/2 months behind. It is okay because we can just continue homeschooling into the summer months.
Is your curriculum working for you? We are using BFIAR and FIAR it is working great. The only thing I need to look into is something for Bible Studies. I am considering adding the gravevine studies.
Are you taking any time off over the next few weeks? We are taking off for Christmas and then resume after New Year's. We are taking off after December 23rd. [ I planned to have a Christmas Cookie party on that day and have invited the boys' cousins].
