Anyone do this? We are foing to start when we get decent weather. We looked up our area and was amazed at how many caches there were in our area, even within 5 minutes of us and we are in the middle of no where!!

Nope... never tried it. I saw it on Extreme Makeover Home Edition one time, but that's it. I don't really remember what it is.

It is sort like a scavenger hunt with a gps. You find locations where people hid them and inside is a log you sign saying you found it and a lot of them have little prizes in them but if you take something you leave something.

I'd never even heard of it to be honest! I did some reading and we are going to start tomorrow! I live in a really small area to and there are tons in my area. The closest is supposedly only a few football field lengths from my house! I have a list of 8 we are going to try to find tomorrow that are all within 5 miles or so of my house.

It is a blast!!! Educational fun too!! We did it yesterday for about 5 hours. Who would think it would be 62 in Indiana in Jan. So we are taking full advantage of it for sure!! Planning on hitting up a state park near here and maybe a few on the way there/back. There are about 12 in the park itself. We found a tracking bug yesterday that is San Francisco bound and it started off in Germany last year on Jan 2. We are going to put it in one at the park. Just dont over think the clues. That was our pronlem to begin with.

My kids are naturals at this! We found 4 of the 5 we were looking for. I am pretty sure that the fifth one is on a sandbar in the middle of the river, and if it had been summer (or even spring) I would have waded in to check. Being January though.... it can stay there till May or June!

We had a blast and we are working out plans to hopefully do it again one day next week. (if the weather holds!)

One that we found today was entitled "Engaging Proposal" It was placed by a couple who got engaged on a park bench in one of the local parks. My husband and I just happened to have gotten married in the same spot, so that was pretty cool!

One of the others says it has multiple tracking bugs in it, so we were hoping to find one of those to pass along, but several people have been there in the past week, and the tracking bugs are all gone. We definitely had a blast though, and the kids are already planning a cache of their own!
