Do you have a plan for years ahead? Like do you know what your going to use for middle school and highschool. Or do you just play it by ear every year?
I am a planner, I have to know if what I am using now will lead us into a plan for middle school and highschool. I have things planned out all the way through highschool. For some things I don't have publishers picked out but I know what we will be studying and for others I know exactly what brand we will use. Of course this is all tentitive. If along the road we find that something is not a good fit we will change things up. I am flexible, nothing is set in stone.
I did have a plan.... and then I had a child who is not going to fit that plan, and the more I look at it, the less I like that original plan. So the new plan is something I think we'll all like for the elementary years, and then middle and high school is tentatively planned, but not official yet by far. We have at least 5 years before I need to figure any of that out for sure, and who knows what might be available by then!!
Uhhh, nope, lol.
I know what curriculum, well the base curriculum, we're going to use next year. But I always play it by ear, year by year. I add a TON of stuff in though. Because if I stuck with just the curriculum, we'd be doing a few grade levels each school year. I don't really want to do that.
We're going with K12 next year too. But I'll be adding in a lot more other stuff as well, more than I did this year.
I don't really want to plan too far ahead because I know all too well that what works today, may not work tomorrow. I definitely don't want to have invested a lot of time and money into something we can't, or won't, use. Especially since cost is one of the biggest factors for us, for now anyway. So if I spent money on something or even planned to, and it didn't pan out, I probably wouldn't be too happy with myself, lol.
