I am in for next year, and the year after that, and the one after that.

YES, what else! We were undecided for a while, if I would continue home schooling this year.

The cost of the private school we were considering (no way we would send him back to the public school, too many problems there, even though it is a "good" school). He also was able to test out of special ed, after a year of home school (I had him in public school for 2 years in which he did nothing and he fell behind... I had home schooled him before that). So, that is why. That and home schooling is something I have wanted to do since I was a young girl, and something I want to continue doing.

Wow! What a testimony to homeschooling!

I too get bogged down and feel like I just want to send them to school. But I KNOW that my son would not do as well in public. I like that we can take our time or speed up. And he just learns with no fears. I love that! He doesn't even know what it is like to fail. It doesn't color his learning at all! I love that he isn't embarrassed to be wrong or to feel nervous about a new task.

My son is so scared to make a mistake, or try something new. If it even SEEMS hard, (and really is very easy), he is like no, I cannot do it, and freezes up. Not sure what to do about that. I don't know when it started, but he has been like that for a very long time.

Oh bless his heart! I too was the same way. It took being out of school and a very sweet DH to convince me of how smart I really was. *sigh* I know how he feels. Just keep telling him it is okay to make mistakes...that is how we learn. It teaches our brains the right way. Tell him that the brain will make new roads and connections off of old connections. So even those wrong ones end up being right.
