Will you (or have you ever) do anything special on the first day of school?

Do you do a big breakfast, pictures, or anything like that? Every year? Only special years (first day of kindergarten, middle school, etc.)?

This year we're going to Build-a-Bear. Some years we do fun stuff. Some years we don't. We never ever do school the first day of the local public schools.

Since this is our first year of school I'm going to make breakfast (quite the rare occurence) and take a picture. For following years, I don't think it will matter because we are schooling year round and won't be starting the same time as public school.

I take a picture, but that's about it. We usually start a couple of weeks before PS. There's a not-back-to-school party for a lot of the local groups. We've gone in the past but probably won't this year.

Umm, actually, no, lol.

Their first day technically speaking will be while I am out of town, they'll be at my mom's. Though we're actually already working on schooling now, our year hasn't officially started and won't until I get back in September.

I'll probably take a picture, at some point. Not likely on the first day though.

It really is just another day to us, lol.

I think i will take a picture, also our homeschool group does a "not back to school" picnic in the park every year so we will do that when the kids are bigger too

Sometimes we do and sometimes we dont. This year was we where we didnt. We have already started back with a few days here and there. I wanted to try to get ahead before we fall behind lol.

Last year I took a picture, this year I will do the same and then our homeschool group is doing a back to school beach bash later this month.

We're schooling year round, but I think instead of making a huge deal of the first day of school, I'll make a huge deal when each kid moves up another grade level. I'll take their picture, and probably let them pick something fun to do that day.

We are absolutely going to build a ritual around the first day of school. Even though we plan to loosely school year round, we'll probably count our first day as the first day of our co op each year. We started this year with our "preschool" picture!
